Meet the owners
Joanne Johnston
Owner, Spa Director, Certified Aesthetician
As a graduate of the Rinaldi College of Aesthetics, Joanne has worked in the spa industry since 2001 and prior to that had a history in hospitality. With a long-standing dream of one day creating the kind of luxurious and renowned spa locally that one would expect to find in Europe, Joanne has built her expansive and dedicated clientele on her professionalism, warmth and the joy she radiates when providing services to her valued guests. The culmination of these natural talents has led to recognition by Orillia Chamber of Commerce for the Customer Service award, an Entrepreneurial initiative award, and a consecutive run of 11 awards all for Best Spa in Orillia since 2009. Joanne is thrilled to bring this passion to their new location at Cavana Ridge and expand her services to the community she loves most.
LEE JOHNSTON
Owner & Business Manager
Orillia born and a self-starting entrepreneur since he was 13 years old, Lee always knew he wanted to serve his beloved community with his own business and provide the kind of guest services typically only found in booming metropolitan areas.
Lee graduated from Georgian College in Barrie with a diploma in Hotel, Resort and Restaurant Administration and went on to serve as manager in hotels including the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto where he filled the role of Service Plus president for over 1300 employees. When Lee met his wife Joanne in college he was not only meeting the love of his life, but also the business partnership of a lifetime.
With Lee’s experience in the hotel industry and Joanne’s undeniable talents as an aesthetician they decided in 2007 to purchase a Victorian property on Mississauga Street and renovate it to become the Cavana Inn. With their combined fusion of hospitality and service excellence Lee and Joanne were able to grow their dream from a bed and breakfast into a combined spa and salon. After 13 years of successfully providing award winning services with award winning products from award winning staff, Lee and Joanne realized their dreams had outgrown the size of the initial property and made the move to designing and building the dream property that now exists at Cavana Ridge.
